Blue Beard's Lair is a narrative environment created in Unity where, as a team of three game artists, we reinterpreted the children's tale Blue Beard in a horror version. This project concluded my Game Art bachelor's degree, the last one before I specialized in 2D, which is why there is a significant amount of 2D production alongside 3D. Although the atmosphere is horror-themed, the project remains PEGI 12.
BLUE BEARD'S LAIR
Context
Blue Beard's Lair is a year-end project completed with two other game artists to validate our progression to the master's level. The task was to reinterpret the Blue Beard tale with a disturbing ambiance, developing a 2D universe and then translating it into 3D.
Among the constraints were maintaining a PEGI 12 rating, adhering to the original story, providing a first-person perspective in the game, a 3D area defined by our specialization, and a maximum of two levels for the environment.
The project is divided into five distinct phases: the development of the 2D universe (characters followed by environments), UI research, 3D creation, and integration into the game engine.
